Join the Student Advisory Committee
Students who participate in the Student Advisory Committee take advantage of an opportunity to have a voice in decisions that affect the quality of student life. The administration takes seriously recommendations made by this committee and frequently acts on the committee’s input immediately. Past projects the Student Advisory Committee helped develop include the Flex plan, theme housing options, D2 and West End Market designs and names, residence hall card access, housing application process improvements, and much more. This dedicated committee of 15 or fewer students meets approximately every three weeks with the directors and other staff members to provide suggestions, advice, and feedback regarding housing, dining, and residence life facilities, policies, programs, services, and staffing. To be eligible for consideration, a student must live on campus and/or have a dining plan, be available to attend meetings, and be genuinely interested in providing input on housing, dining, and residence life issues. http://www.studentprograms.vt.edu/reslife/sac.php

Dining Services Student Staff Positions
Come join the Dining Services team!  Our Student Staff members help run the individual shops within our Dining Centers by doing jobs like working the cash register and prepping food.  Not only do our students earn free food vouchers, they gain valuable skills that can help them in the future.  For instance, students learn about team work, customer service, how to work in a large organization, and more.  Our Student Staff members start out at $8.25/hour.

Dining Services Student Management Positions
Opportunity for advancement is just one of the many benefits Dining Services offers its student employees.  Our student managers hire, train, and supervisor other Student Staff members. Student managers also do counseling and scheduling.  These work experiences can help build a student’s knowledge base and their resume.  While working as a student manager for Dining Services, students learn about leadership, professional responsibility, customer service and how to relate to co-workers, subordinates, and supervisors.  Student Managers start at $8.75/hour and Student General Managers start at $9.25/hour.
