Steve Burrell is the Assistant Director of Student Organizations in the Department of Student Activities and has been in that position since August 2004.  In this position Steve is responsible for registration or student organizations, organizing the Student Organization Showcase each August and managing the Student Fee Allocation process through the Student Budget Board (SBB) and the Registered Student Organization Budget Board (RSO BB).  His responsibility along with the other staff in Student Activities is to engage with students and student organizations and organization advisors to provide information and resources  as requested.

Steve earned a BA in History and a MS in Higher Education, Student Affairs from Florida State University.  While at Florida State he served on the Residence Hall Council, was a Resident Assistant, and a founding father of the Beta Septaton Chapter of Phi Sigma Kappa. 

Since graduating he has worked at Albion College, in Albion, Michigan as a Residence Coordinator and College Judicial Coordinator.  He then worked at Wittenberg University, in Springfield, Ohio, in Judicial Affairs.  Prior to coming to Virginia Tech, Steve worked at Duke University in Conference Services and then in the Event Advising Center, which was eventually merged with the Office of Student Activities and Facilities. 

In his limited free time, Steve serves as the Chapter Advisor to the Epsilon Hexaton Chapter of Phi Sigma Kappa that was re-chartered at Virginia Tech in 2006.  He also volunteers in various roles at his church, serves as a board member for Better Agreements, Inc., a non-profit organization providing mediation and conflict resolution services and training, and has coached youth soccer and basketball.
