J. Scott McGee, Assistant Director for Finance for University Unions & Student Activities (UUSA), joined UUSA in his present capacity in October 2007.  Scott graduated with a BA degree in Urban Affairs from Virginia Tech in 1976.  After graduating in 1976 Scott served in the United States Marine Corps as an infantry officer.  After his honorable discharge in August of 1979, Scott undertook studies in accounting in the Virginia Community College System and later returned to Virginia Tech to earn his BS degree in Accounting in 1984.  Since graduating from Virginia Tech in 1984 Scott has served in various budgetary, fiscal, and accounting capacities within public accounting, the private business sector and in higher education.  No stranger to higher education, Scott served in various budgetary and fiscal capacities within various components of Virginia Tech's Information Systems from 1995 through 2003.  From 2003 through 2005 Scott served as a Senior Internal Auditor in Virginia Tech's Internal Audit Department.  Before returning to Virginia Tech in 2007, Scott was engaged in a consulting capacity with a public accounting firm in Norfolk, Virginia engaged primarily in audits of financial institutions and Sarbanes-Oxley consulting and compliance.  Scott is a certified and licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the state of Virginia; as well, Scott earned his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Regis University in 2003.

As well as his family, Scott's interests revolve around hiking, camping, hunting and fishing.
