John Greene
John Dwayne Greene is currently serving as Assistant Director for Business Services in University Unions and Student Activities and has served in this role since April 2005. He is primarily responsible for Cash Handling Compliance, Facility Use Agreements, Fixed Assets, and vendor contracts. Prior to that, he served as UUSA Ticket Office Manager for fifteen years and Building Manger for another seven years. During his time as manager of the Ticket Office, he was instrumental in computerizing the ticketing operation, increasing service (including on-line sales), and significantly increasing revenue. During his stint as Building Manager, he assisted in closing the student center for renovation and expansion (1988) and worked with the operation staff in preparation for the reopening of Squires Student Center in 1990. As employee, John brings almost 25 years of union experience, dedication, and loyalty to University Unions and Student Activities. He received his Bachelor of Science in Education (Recreation Administration) from Virginia Tech in 1980 and a Masters of Business Administration from Averett University in 2005. John served as a varsity athlete (basketball) during most of his time as an undergraduate at Tech. John enjoys volunteering with many civic and professional organizations, including attending the Christiansburg Police Citizen’s Academy, Blacksburg Citizen’s Institute, Virginia Tech/Town of Blacksburg Town Gown Committee meetings, the Women Resource Center Volunteer training sessions. John is originally from Raleigh, North Carolina and has a son Adrian, and a daughter, Tia. |
