Venture Out

A program of University Unions and Student Activities’ Recreation Services, Venture Out offers fun, safe, and, educational outdoor services to the students, faculty, staff, and the community of Virginia Tech. Venture Out is an affordable way to experience the great outdoors. We specialize in low risk outdoor adventures, quality rental gear at unbeatable rates, and valuable resources to help you plan the perfect adventure. Venture Out complements academics through intentional education of mind, body, and spirit.

Outdoor Adventures: Venture Out specializes in low risk outdoor adventures that require little to no experience to participate. Typical adventures include backpacking, camping, canoeing, caving, downhill skiing, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, rock climbing, and whitewater rafting. Trips include transportation, experienced outdoor leadership, and necessary safety instruction.

• Equipment Rental Center: Planning an outdoor adventure? The Venture Out Equipment Rental Center can provide you with everything you need to make your next trip a success --  camping gear, tents, sleeping bags, ground pads, backpacks, canoes, stoves, outdoor games and more.
• Venture Out Trip Leader Training Being a Venture Out leader is about helping others discover the great outdoors.  The Venture Out Trip Leader Training Program offers a formal training program that focuses on outdoor leadership, safety, and adventure skills.
• Outdoor Resource Center Let Venture Out be your link to the outdoors. We have a variety of information on hiking, backpacking, and camping in the New River Valley, Virginia State Parks, and National Forests. 
• Outdoor Education Presentations Still curious about who we are? We offer an educational presentation for groups, classes, organizations, or departments at no charge.
