Virginia Tech is Looking for a 2009 Homecoming Theme
BLACKSBURG, Va., April 2, 2009 – The Virginia Tech Homecoming Board has launched the 2009 Homecoming Theme Contest. Through May 1 students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members will have the opportunity to submit their ideas for the 2009 homecoming theme. "The Homecoming Board wants everyone to have a chance to suggest a theme and be a part of this wonderful tradition," said Monica Hunter, Associate Director of Campus Programs.
The Hokies will take on the Boston College Eagles on October 10 in the 2009 homecoming game. The winning theme will be selected by the Homecoming Board and will be the basis for all events throughout the week-long homecoming celebration leading up to the game. Last year’s winning entry was “Tradition Never Graduates.”
The person submitting the winning theme will win a pair of tickets to all events during the week-long homecoming celebration, including a performance by a hypnotist, a concert, Laugh Riot, a step show, and the football game. The winner will also have the chance to serve as a judge for the homecoming parade.
Ideas can be submitted at www.vthomecoming.org.vt.edu/. Deadline for submission is May 1, 2009. The winning theme will be announced May 8. Questions can be directed to Monica Hunter at monicah@vt.edu.
The homecoming theme contest and homecoming celebration events are sponsored by University Unions & Student Activities (UUSA), a unit within the Division of Student Affairs at Virginia Tech. UUSA complements the academic program by providing a variety of activities, educational opportunities, programs, facilities, and services that enhance student development and enrich the quality of campus life at Virginia Tech.
