UUSA Hosts Student Job Fair April 28

BLACKSBURG, Va., April 21, 2009 – University Unions & Student Activities will host a job fair open to all Virginia Tech students Tuesday, April 28, 2009, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Williamsburg Room, second floor, Squires Student Center.  University Unions & Student Activities offers a variety of student employment opportunities to compliment students’ academic pursuits, afford resume-building experience, and provide income.  UUSA is committed to the development and advancement of student employees through leadership and career skills training. Students interested in attending the job fair need only bring their curiosity and questions.  There is no dress code and no appointments are necessary.

James L. Gresham II, UUSA’s student employee training and development coordinator, says now is the time to seek employment for the summer and the 2009-2010 school year.  “We have 77 graduating seniors of 279 total employees and we are very interested in filling some of the vacant positions,” he said.  UUSA is the second largest on campus employer of VT students, behind Dining Services.

“UUSA hosts a variety of jobs for students in the Union, from setting up for major concerts with Production Services to helping plan events with Event Planning,” said Gresham. “We have something for a wide range of student interests, with competitive pay rates and flexible hours.”

Among the UUSA areas that are looking for new student employees:

UUSA is a unit within the Division of Student Affairs that complements the academic program and enriches the quality of student life at Virginia Tech. Through UUSA, students can get involved with student activities, clubs and organizations, the student unions, leadership development, leisure and recreation, and student employment.
