UUSA Employee Recognition Awards

Each year, UUSA recognizes members of our staff who exemplify the values and standards of University Unions & Student Activities, while going above and beyond the duties outlined in their job descriptions.  Six awards are given by UUSA.  They are:

  • four Core Values Awards to correspond with UUSA’s four core values of Student Learning, Community, Service, and Commitment to Excellence
  • the UUSA Mission Possible Award for the employee who demonstrates the characteristics exemplified in the UUSA Mission Statement
  • the Douglas S. Yates Award for the employee who exemplifies selfless dedication to their colleagues and the overall betterment of UUSA

The awards consist of framed certificates and $100, to be presented at the UUSA Staff Retreat, Tuesday, August 5 at Water’s Edge, Claytor Lake.  Recipients’ names are also added to permanently displayed plaques in Squires Student Center.

Nominations are due Friday, May 2 and should be submitted in hard copy to the nomination box in 225 Squires.  Please fill out one nomination form for each nomination.  If you are nominating the same person for more than one award, please fill out a nomination form for each award sought.  To be eligible, nominees must be 1500 hour or full time staff members and must have worked in UUSA for a minimum of 13 months by the May 2 nomination deadline.  A previous winner cannot be nominated the following year in the same category.  A nominee cannot receive two awards in one year.  Awards will be determined by an ad hoc committee appointed by the UUSA Administrative Council.
