Weddings

The Chapel is available for weddings for members of the Virginia Tech community. The fee for renting the Chapel is based on your affiliation with the university:

  • Students: $65 per hour
  • Alumni: $75 per hour
  • University-Affiliated: $85 per hour

All reservations are granted on a first-come, first-served basis. The Chapel schedules weddings everyday except for Sunday due to worship services. The Chapel will not be available for use during university-observed holidays or on days Virginia Tech hosts home football games. Please keep this in mind when requesting your date.

A standard reservation includes three hours: one hour for your rehearsal on the preceding Friday, and a two-hour reservation for your ceremony on Saturday. For instance, for a 1:00 pm wedding, a 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm reservation is recommended. You may purchase extra hours if time is still available. Please contact the Chapel to discuss availability.

After you select a date and time for your wedding, and you want to move forward with the reservation process, you will need to provide the following information or, print and complete the Wedding Request Form.

To ensure availability, please contact the Chapel by phone to make your reservation(s).

At that point, you will be sent a contract. You will be given a tentative reservation to hold the date for up to two weeks. In that two-week period, you will need to sign, date, and return the contract to our office with a $75 non-refundable deposit, which will be applied to your final bill. In the case of a cancelled wedding, you will need to notify the Chapel at least 60 days in advance or full charges will be billed.

Technical Specifications

The Chapel's maximum seating capacity is 260 people. Approximately 200 people may be seated in the pews with an additional 48 chairs available around the perimeter. There are 28 pews, 14 on either side of the aisle. The wooden rails on each side of the front of the Chapel are 17 feet in length, and the brass rails on each side of the back of the Chapel are 10 feet 8 inches in length. The Chapel aisle is 45 feet in length.
