The Cranwell International Center offers a wide variety of programs and services and the staff is always happy to discuss with you any questions or concerns you might have while at Virginia Tech.  We offer a variety of services, programs, and courses.

Information about some of the services are listed below:

Classes
All international undergraduates are encouraged to enroll in the First Year Experience class offered only in the Fall semester.  Other classes for all undergraduates and graduates include: Transitions, American Society, and Leadership from an International Experience.

ISID cards
The CIC offers International Student Identity Cards for students and teachers planning to study abroad.

Immigration/ SEVIS information
Information concerning the new SEVIS system and immigration services for undergraduate students

Social Security Cards, Tax Forms, and obtaining a Driver’s License
The Social Security Administration visits the CIC on a regular schedule.  Assistance with filing tax forms and getting a Driver’s License is available.

International Student Orientation
New students should plan to attend and check the updated schedule.

Health Insurance
All international students and dependents are required to purchase insurance.  For information regarding the policy or help with an insurance claim, please call the CIC.

Speaker’s Bureau
The staff at the CIC work with local schools and community organizations to build bridges or understanding between Americans and people from other countries.

Counseling
Academic or financial problems? Culture shock? The Cranwell International Crnter counsels internationals who have any concerns.

Resources and Referrals
The Cranwell International Center provides a wide variety of resources and referrals to anyone with a need.

International Friendship Program
Students from abroad are invited to participate, and be matched with a local family or individual.  Area residents are invited to participate in the programs as hosts.

Conversation
The Conversation Program is designed to help internationals practice their conversational English for the purpose of sharing conversation and culture.  There is no charge for these programs.  Volunteer leaders are always welcome.

Social Activities
Throughout the year the CIC celebrates special occasions such as holidays, graduation, and football.   Please check the calendar of events.

Trips
Every year the CIC sponsors a trip to Mabry Mils located in the Blue Ridge Parkway, Washington DC, as well as other local trips throughout the year.

Cranwell Courier
The CIC sends an electronic communication each week with important immigration information, University and community information.  All students are automatically included- if you would like to be added to the list please email Karen Wolfson.
