Tue, Aug 25 Social Security Number Application 9:00am–1:00pm
Description: A representative from the Social Security Office comes to the Cranwell International Center the third Tuesday of every month to accept Social Security Number applications. Non-resident aliens must bring their passports and visa papers. United States citizens must bring proof of birth. Anyone over the age of 18 must come in person to make an application.

Sun, Aug 30 New International Student Retreat 8:00am–5:00pm
Description: A chance for new international students to go off-campus, meet other new students, see the beautiful countryside, engage in outdoor team-building exercises and participate in a workshop on cultural difference and the notion of culture shock. Required for undergraduates enrolled in the Cranwell Center’s First-Year Seminar course (UNIV 1704/CRN 95497); open to other international students (undergraduate and graduate) space permitting. Cost: $30, includes roundtrip transportation from Cranwell (buses will depart Cranwell at 8:30am sharp and return to campus by 6pm), all food and the day’ activities.

Description: Join us to cheer on the Hokie football team vs. Miami at this alcohol free tailgate party, co-sponsored by the Campus Alcohol Abuse Prevention Center and the Council of International Student Organizations. A tailgate is a social gathering before a sports event held in a parking lot outside the stadium with vehicles and the adjoining space used for picnicking, barbecuing, and other activities.
